Who we are

Village Studio is a small independent studio making premium games for PC. We are all game making veterans from the likes of SEGA, Rovio, Disney, TikTok and Adult Swim. We’ve made big hits, commercial flops, weird things and cool things. We come together, remotely cohabiting our virtual village, to ply our own unique trades.

We make games that will be talked about in top 5s, be debated, have cult status, and get played for decades to come.

Do the Bird Shit

When designing our first logo we put a bird shit on it. It caused a debate: What does it say about us? Do we want to be associated with feces? But the excrement made some of us smile, exactly because of these questions. It was interesting to us. So we kept it.

We’d all come from a background of making games where you had to justify yourself. We always had to explain why something was a good idea. Yet, the most enduring games are irrationally weird in ways that pleases our brains in ways that we can’t really ever explain.

"Do the bird shit" became symbolic for Village. It is the reminder to do the thing which is interesting to someone, even if others have doubts. It is the pass to be creatively brave and fill our games with incidental, trivial bits. Bits we know, but could never prove, will make our games better.
